LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Fire Department Metro Arson Squad has arrested a man for allegedly setting multiple fires, one of which resulted in the serious injury of a firefighter.


According to a news release from the fire department, 50-year-old Lavance S. Wilson was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday. An arrest report states that Wilson, "set multiple fires within a small area" in a short period of time. Those fires included a trash fire in an alley near the corner of S. 1st Street and W. Ormsby Avenue. A second trash fire was set at the corner of S. 3rd Street and E. Magnolia Avenue, next to a garage.


The third fire took place at The Tavern on S. 4th Street, causing significant damage to the building, as well as a nearby occupied carriage house. A firefighter suffered a serious injury while fighting that fire, according to an arrest report.


Authorities say they found surveillance video of Wilson setting the fires.


He was arrested and charged with two counts of arson, one count of attempted arson and one count of wanton endangerment.
