Metro Corrections inmate allegedly had heroin delivered to jail in greeting cards

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An inmate at Louisville Metro Corrections is facing new charges after authorities say she conspired with her husband to have heroin shipped into the jail.

According to a criminal citation, 23-year-old Courtney Coomes got her husband to mail heroin to her on two separate occasions while she was an inmate in the jail.

Authorities say the heroin was concealed inside of greeting cards.

Coomes allegedly admitted to her involvement.

Already in custody, she now faces two new charges of promotion of contraband.
