Porcelain dolls frighten families in California

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It may be creepy, but it's not a crime. That was the word from police in California after parents found porcelain dolls on their doorsteps.

There were no notes or threats left with the dolls, but something about the dolls made the parents nervous.

"There's an indication by some of the parents that the dolls resemble their daughters, and we're talking about children here," said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

At least 8 families contacted police about the dolls.

Officials say they've found the person who left the dolls, and their intent was not to scare families, but instead to spread cheer.
