Winter weather, short summer to blame for cut in Indiana tourism

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Winter weather is having a big impact on summer tourism in southern Indiana.

Parks, caves and historic sites report a drop in visitors compared to last year. They believe the late start to the summer vacation is to blame.

The long-lasting winter weather pushed school back into June.

Harrison County parks admissions dropped 15-to-20 percent from last summer.

Revenue also is down at the Indiana Caverns, Squire Boone and Marengo show caves and four historic sites operated by the Indiana State Museum.
