LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New pet regulations in Goshen are aimed to cut down on neighborhood complaints.

The city of Goshen revised a pet ordinance, requiring cats to be on a leash off the owner's property.

City leaders say they received numerous complaints about cats running wild in the neighborhood. WDRB News spent hours in the area and didn't see a single cat

"I think it's really stupid I mean we've got a lot bigger problems in the world than cats," said one local resident.

When asked Oldham County Animal Control about cat complaints. Barbara Rosenman said, "No not that I can recollect, most of our complaints are of a much more serious nature."

Goshen's mayor, who was unavailable for an on-camera interview says he understands this will be difficult to enforce. But he hopes it makes pet owners more responsible.

"People just need to be tolerant, your average cat is a small quiet solitary animal it's not a public safety threat," said Rosenman.
