Plan expected to be announced for improvements to veterans' health program

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An announcement on a deal to fix the Veterans' health program is reportedly close to being made.

Plagued by problems with wait times and falsified records, officials are expected to unveil a plan to fix those issues on Monday.

The deal would involve billions of dollars in emergency spending to lease more than two dozen new clinics and hire more doctors and nurses, making it easier for veterans to get needed care.

Rep. Jeff Miller (R-Florida) said, "The VA is not sacred. The veteran is. And that's the most important thing for all of us to remember as we have gone through this process."

The plan still has to be approved by the full House and Senate.
