LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A large crowd turned out on a beautiful Monday for the 44th annual Dainty Contest at Hauck's Handy Store.

The Germantown tradition draws crowds every summer to see those 45 and older take a swing at the dainty.

This year's big winner was Ned Dailey, who hit the dainty 131 feet. The winner of the lemons - for hitting it the shortest distance - was Karen Knight-Willburn, with just a six-inch hit.

Participants are only allowed three tips - attempts to knock the dainty into the air - and just one hit.

Several local politicians took a swing at the dainty, including Judge Eric Haner, David Nicholson, Jim Wayne, Jack Conway and Christine Ward.
