'Opportunity' strikes, breaks galactic record

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A galaxy-wide record has been broken!

NASA's Mars Rover has officially covered the most mileage on the surface of Mars. 'Opportunity' has now logged 25 miles. It passed the record set in 1973 by a Russian probe.

Scientists say they plan to keep the rover traveling towards a nearby valley, which would increase the distance traveled to 26.2 miles.
