JCPS Clothing Assistance Program holding annual blitz

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The JCPS Clothing Assistance program (CAP) is once again holding its annual clothing blitz.

For 43 years, CAP has provided new and used clothing to needy children in the district. The clothing blitz is held behind Central High School's football stadium.

Superintendent Donna Hargens says it's all thanks to the 15th District PTA, and hard-working volunteers.

"It provides families and students with what they need so they can concentrate on the first day of school being about learning and not worrying about what they need," Hargens said.

Last year, more than 8,000 families received clothes. The goal this school year is to help 10,000 families. The program runs through next week.

The first day of school for JCPS is August 13.
