Indiana Gov. Mike Pence speaks on immigration crisis

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana governor Mike Pence feels like he's fighting the nation's border crisis and the President.

Pence was angry he had to learn from media reports that more than 200 immigrant children have been placed with families in Indiana after they illegally entered the U.S.

Pence says he wrote to the President, but has gotten no response.

He says the Secretary of Health and Human services did speak to him, acknowledging the government should have given governors more information about child placements.

"What we ought to be doing is humanely processing these children and families and returning them to their home countries and reuniting them with their families," Gov. Pence said. "That's right for them and it's also the best way we could send a signal south of our border that we intend to uphold the laws of our country."
