LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police want citizens to take to the streets and join them for a National Night Out.

Communities across the country will take part in the annual event, which is set for Tuesday evening.

This year's theme is "Community Oriented Policing," with a focus on crime prevention and neighborhood block watch development.

"We have eight LMPD sponsored locations and there will be an officer at each location with information on how to start a neighborhood watch program," said LMPD spokesperson Lt. Andrea Brown.

LMPD's canine and mounted patrol units, dive team, and bomb squad will also be out for the evening's events.

There will also be activities for children and even police officer dunking booths.
