Clark County law enforcement knocks on doors to verify sex offenders' addresses
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dozens of police officers went knocking on doors all over Clark County, Indiana Monday looking for sex offenders.
Lt. Tim Franklin explained, “We have 188 registered sex offenders living in Clark County and our number one goal at the Sheriff's Office is to know where they're at and keep the community safe.”
The Clark County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals joined forces to check and see if sex offenders registered in Clark County are living where they say they are.
The same operation was performed in 2012. So far they've made one arrest but for an unrelated battery charge.
Police knocked on 170 homes today and couldn't find roughly 20 sex offenders.
They will revisit those homes tomorrow.
If the sex offenders can't be found then, a warrant will be issued for their arrest.
