LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Humane Society just received the largest gift it has ever gotten from a single donor: $1 million from a familiar name in town.

Sam Swope, the founder of Sam Swope Auto Group, is making the generous donation. He was at a press conference Tuesday, cuddling with some animals. With his gift, the Kentucky Humane Society will launch a campaign to create what they believe is the nation's first stand-alone medical and behavioral rehab center for dogs and cats.

The non-profit agency finds homes for more than 6,000 cats and dogs a year -- and saves every adoptable pet it takes in.
