LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - St. Matthews Police arrested a man who they allege stayed in a vacated apartment for several weeks, along with three juveniles.

Brandon Pipkin was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, after police say he admitted to them that he had been staying at the Mallgate of St. Matthews apartment complex in a vacated unit, according to an arrest report.

Detectives were dispatched to the apartment complex to investigate a series of incidents. Upon investigation, authorities made contact with Pipkin, who admitted to occupying an apartment for several weeks.

Police were speaking with Pipkin, when they say three other individuals tried to flee from the apartment by jumping down a second story balcony. Police say the three individuals returned to the apartment a short time later. An investigation into the other three individuals revealed that one of them had been reported as a missing juvenile, who had not been seen since July 18. Police allege that Pipkin was aware that the juvenile was missing and that he did not make any effort to reunite her with relatives.

Police also say Pipkin admitted to being with the three juveniles when other multiple crimes had been committed, including burglary and shoplifting.

Pipkin is charged with burglary and three counts of unlawful transaction with a minor.
