165th Saint Joe's Picnic for the Kids gets underway August 8 & 9
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 165th Saint Joe's Picnic for the Kids is one of Louisville's most popular events. The campus on Frankfort Avenue becomes part church picnic and part family reunion, as 50,000 flock to the celebration.
The picnic is an iconic Louisville event and supports some of Kentucky's most abused an neglected children. Thousands of volunteers run booths and games of chance, including the area's largest cake booth with more than 2,500 cakes. The famous chicken dinners and fish sandwiches are back. And there is a new alumni hospitality area for all St. Joe's alumni to gather and share memories.
Because of construction, there will be some parking on the St. Joe's campus through the Brownsboro Road entrance. But new this year is off-site parking at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The parking lot is off Grinstead Drive (closest cross-street is Hite Ave.) Free Shuttle rides running from Seminary Parking lot to St. Joseph Children's Home Frankfort Ave Entrance 8:00 a.m. to midnight Saturday, August 9th.
