LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --  Lauren Bacall, the award-winning actress and Humphrey Bogart's partner off and on the screen, has died. She was 89.

The managing partner of the Humphrey Bogart Estate, Robbert J.F. de Klerk, says that Bacall died Tuesday in New York. Bacall's son Stephen Bogart confirmed his mother's death to de Klerk.

Multiple media outlets began reporting the news of Bacall's death Tuesday evening, citing anonymous sources of 'friends and family' and the estate of Humphrey Bogart, which tweeted: “With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall.”

Bacall was the star of movies like To Have and Have Not (1944) and The Big Sleep (1944) alongside Bogart. The sultry-voiced Bacall became famous with her first movie scene, opposite Bogart in 1944's "To Have and Have Not." The willowy 19-year old famously said, "You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow."

She and Bogart wed in 1945 and Bacall went on to appear in scores of films, TV shows and stage productions. She was nominated for an Academy Award, won two Tony Awards and received an honorary Oscar in 2009.

According to a report by TMZ, the actress died of a stroke at her home. The news of Bacall's death comes just a day after legendary actor Robin Williams, 63, was found dead at his home.
