LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Louisville man has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder.

Delonte Richie, 21, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 5300 block of Outer Loop, after police say he fired multiple gunshots at a woman.

Police say Richie was dating the victim's ex-girlfriend, and the victim saw her ex-girlfriend's car outside an apartment complex on the Outer Loop. Police say the victim assumed her ex-girlfriend was driving the vehicle.

The victim sent her ex-girlfriend a text message, police say, but Richie responded. The victim agreed to meet with Richie at his apartment complex, where the victim's ex-girlfriend was also a resident.

Once the victim was at the apartment complex with Richie, police say Richie pulled a gun and began firing it at the victim, striking her in the foot. The victim then attempted to get back in her car. The victim's vehicle was also shot multiple times, and the rear windshield was broken out of the car.

Damage to the victim's car was estimated to be a total of $1,000.

Police say both Richie and the victim ran from the scene. The victim was later taken for treatment to U of L Hospital.

Richie is charged with attempted murder, possession by a convicted felon and criminal mischief. He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
