NASCAR institutes new rules following driver's death

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - NASCAR has announced new rules less than one week after a race car driver was killed on the track.

Last weekend, a driver was struck and killed at a dirt-track race in New York.

NASCAR is now telling its drivers to not approach the track or moving vehicles after accidents.

Kevin Ward Jr. got out of his car after crashing, stepped onto the track and was hit by NASCAR star Tony Stewart.

NASCAR will address violations of the rule on a case-by-case basis.
