LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The victim of a deadly shooting this weekend in Jefferson County is being remembered for his work honoring fallen soldiers.

Eighteen-year-old Dillon Walker died from a gunshot wound to the head after a shooting Saturday morning on Routt Road.

A 17-year-old has been charged with murder.

A spokesman with the Kentucky National Guard says Walker's uncle was hit by an IED while serving in Iraq in 2006. He later died of complications from his injuries.

As part of a senior project, the Frankfort teen worked to identify the names of Kentucky National Guard members who have died in the line of duty.

He was later named an honorary member of the Kentucky National Guard for this project.

Kentucky National Guard members plan to purchase a brick in Dillon's name that will be placed at a memorial for fallen soldiers.
