Fort Campbell asking for help in light of more expected Army budget cuts

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - More cuts are expected for the U.S. Army, and Fort Campbell is reaching out to the community for help.

Residents are being asked to write a personal letter explaining how the cuts would negatively impact their families and the surrounding area.

In July, the Army said Fort Campbell could lose of half its civilian and military workforce.

If the maximum cuts are re-instated in 2016, 16,000 people would be out of work, and the economic hit would be more than $860 million.

That's twice the amount first projected by officials.
