Woman kicked in face after getting too close to giraffe in Wisconsin zoo

MADISON, Wis. (WDRB) -- A California woman who decided to take a walk on the wild side at a Wisconsin zoo found out just how dangerous giraffes can be. 

Police say 24-year-old Amanda Hall managed to get past barriers at the Henry Villas Zoo in Madison, Wisconsin, and made her way the giraffe exhibit, where she got an up close and personal meeting with 2-year-old Wally.

Wall greeted Hall with a kiss -- then turned his back on her and kicked her in the face. Zookeepers say giraffes can kill lions, and that Hall was lucky. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Hall needed 10 stitches in her chin. 

Hall is was cited for harassing the zoo animals, and fined almost $700. She says she plans to appeal the citation.
