Flight canceled, luggage lost -- there's an insurance company for that

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Delayed lights and lost luggage are just some of the hassles of flying.

Those troubles could become profitable.

"If your flight's stuck on the tarmac and you then miss your connection that's a thousand dollars.  If your bag is lost that's a thousand dollars.  You get over three thousand dollars in coverage," said George Hobica, founder of the website "Airfare Watchdog."

The travel insurance company Aircare is reimbursing travelers for those problems and other headaches.

The insurance costs $25 for domestic flights, including round trips, and can be bought up to an hour before departure.

Aircare tracks travelers' flights. If a flight is delayed more than two hours, customers receive an automatic payment.

The big difference from other travel insurance is Aircare tends to pay more than others.

However, the company does not pay a dime if a flight is canceled or if the airline announces a schedule change far in advance of departure.
