Four of the latest trends in decorated cakes with Adrienne & Company
JEFFERSONVILLE, In. (WDRB) -- Staying on top of the latest trends is important to the artists at Adrienne & Company Bakery and Cafe. Owner Adrienne Pasquantino-Holland just returned from a workshop where she learned the newest techniques for icing.
She's showcasing four of the most popular trends. The most basic is the "naked cake." It's a simple stack of cake layers with minimal icing but plenty of color and filling.
Holland is also inspired by their dome cakes and what's called an "hombre" cake. The hombre cake uses lighter and darker shades of the same color to create a faded effect.
And she is most proud of the techniques she learned with lace. Before taking the workshop, Holland would use a free-form technique to create a lace look on cakes. The new way is much more uniform and exact.
Bakery owner Bernie Pasquantino is also experimenting with donut flavors, since adding Amazing Glaze Donut Shop to their business. Their new flavors include the banana split bismark, the chocolate oreo cheesecake long john, the candied bacon and maple glaze and the margarita lime donut.
