LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former teacher and coach accused of sexually abusing a student years ago was in court Tuesday.

Philip "Dale" Anderson pleaded not guilty to charges of sodomy and sex abuse.

Anderson was arrested Aug. 18 after a former student claimed the two engaged in sexual acts.

Anderson, 55, taught at Saint Raphael as an elementary school teacher from 1981 to 1993, while also coaching football at Trinity.

The alleged victim says the sexual relationship lasted three years while the student was between the ages of 11 and 14.

The police report says Anderson was the victim's teacher and coach at Saint Raphael.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department says it executed a search warrant in 2011 for Anderson's electronics, when he resigned from Southwestern High School after an incident there.

The sheriff says the FBI found nothing illegal.

During Tuesday's court proceedings, the judge ordered Anderson to have no contact with the alleged victim and no unsupervised contact with children.
