Davis becomes first Little League player on the cover of SI

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- A 13 year old phenom makes history by becoming the first Little League baseball player on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Philadelphia's Mo'ne Davis is packing stands with fans watching her Mid-Atlantic team compete for the title.  Concession stands have sold out of the powder-blue T-shirts of her Taney Dragons team. With her long braids dangling over her shoulders on every pitch, the star pitcher is a captivating presence and has been in a league of her own on the baseball diamond -- the first female to win a game, let alone a two-hit shutout, in series history.

Sports Illustrated editors say she has captured the nation's attention and is a role model for younger children and for those in her inner city neighborhood.

Davis is scheduled to start again for her team at the Little League World Series on Wednesday.
