LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Stage One Family Theatre is partnering with the Muhammad Ali Center and the Kentucky Center to present a new play series mean to pass on the legacy of Louisville's Greatest to the next generation.

It's called "And in This Corner...Cassius Clay".

It will run for more than 40 performances next January and February. It tells the story of Ali's childhood, growing up in Louisville when the city was deeply segregated.

JCPS Superintendent Donna Hargens wants every middle school student in the district to see the show.

“Our students, especially our middle school students, are working to define their identities and decide what kind of people they want to be. Immersing themselves in the legacy of Muhammad Ali may help them find the strength and inspiration to achieve,” Hargens said.

Hargens says she plans to make the performance a mandatory field trip for JCPS middle schools.
