LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker suffered a left foot injury in practice Friday and will consult with an orthopedic surgeon in Charlotte, N.C., for further evaluation and management.
U of L released the news Friday night after a practice in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, and did not specify what the injury was. Parker is expected to be a centerpiece of the Cardinal offense. A 6-3 native of Louisville, he caught 55 passes for a team-best 885 yards and tied a school record with 12 TD catches last season.
In its release, U of L said Parker has been evaluated by team physicians, and next will visit Dr. Bob Anderson in North Carolina. Anderson is a well-known specialist with a background in athletic injuries.
He treated Derek Jeter's broken ankle in 2012, and also treated the foot injuries of Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, Alabama wideout Julio Jones and Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry.
