Underpants Run raises money for local kids center

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A lot of people showed some skin today, and it was all for a good cause.

It was all part of the Underpants Run at Waterfront Park. About 350 runners stripped down to their skivvies to help raise money for The Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies.

It's a one-and-a-half-mile run in the spirit of this weekend's Ironman competition.

The runners also compete for the best underwear, most creative, most colorful and the biggest donation.

But most importantly - just have fun.

"It's all about fun and the kids' center," event organizer Chase Wininger said. "That's pretty much all we're worried about is getting out, having a good time and raising money for a good cause."

Officials say that due to heat the numbers were down some this year. In the last few years, they've donated more than $11,000.
