LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - More than 2,000 athletes are taking on the challenge of the IronMan Louisville Sunday.

Participating athletes will go on a 140-mile trek, consisting of swimming, biking and running.

Dr. Steve Heilman from Norton Healthcare says a major concern for the athletes is the weather. He says medical professionals are on standby to help participants who may be adversely affected after the race.

A medical center is set up for the race at the Kentucky International Convention Center. The center is being staffed with about 80 nurses and 50 doctors to provide care to competitors who may not feel weel during or after the race.

The space is equipped with cots, medication and other items.
