Mother of children killed in New Albany arson becomes victim of theft

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A New Albany family hit hard by a fatal fire earlier this year is asking the public for helping solving a weekend theft.

Theresa Hughes is the mother of Taty'Ana Hughes, the young New Albany girl who survived the fire in January.

Taty'Ana's three siblings died in the fire that authorities say was started by a teenager.

Just after 2 a.m. Sunday, the family says the mother's purse was stolen from a car located in a parking lot on Preston Highway near J.T.'s Bar and Golden Corral.

Her phone was also taken that contains photos and videos of the three children that died in the fire.

Anyone with information should call Louisville Metro Police.
