CRAWFORD | Source: Johnson cleared to play for U of L

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A source close to the University of Louisville basketball program says freshman forward Jaylen Johnson has been cleared to play for the Cardinals this season. The school hasn't yet officially confirmed his status.

Johnson enrolled in classes Monday but a U of L spokesman told WDRB he had not been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Believed to be at issue are courses the player took in his two years at Ypsilati High School, before its consolidation with the Willow Run School District in 2013.

A 6-9 power forward, Johnson was a four-star recruit out of high school, was the last member of Rick Pitino's six-player recruiting class who has not been cleared.

Pitino said last month he wasn't overly concerned with the delay, citing the school consolidation in Michigan.
