Fake job applicant steals purses from patrons at restaurant bars

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is accused of posing as a potential job applicant, and then making off with other peoples purses.

According to arrest documents, 22-year-old Daron Powell went to the Austin's restaurant around noon Sunday on US Highway 42.

He asked for a job application, sat down at the bar to complete the application, and that's when, police say, he reached over the bar and took two purses belonging to two different women.

About two hours later, police say Powell stole another purse from the Fuji Asian Bistro on Dixie Hwy.

That victim chased Powell and was able to give police the license plate number of the vehicle he got away in.

Powell faces two counts of theft by deception.
