Police searching for suspect after Clarksville woman shot inside her apartment

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Clarksville woman was shot inside her apartment early Tuesday.

Police say it happened around 3 a.m. at an apartment on West Montgomery Avenue, not far from the Derby Dinner Playhouse. Police say the woman was walking into her living room when she was shot in the stomach.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to University Hospital in Louisville. She was in stable condition after surgery. Police expect she will survive her injuries.

Police say David Booher fired the shot through the front window of the apartment after leaving threatening voicemail messages Monday night. Booher had been staying with the victim and her boyfriend last week.

"He was somewhere outside the residence, we don't know how far outside," said Clarksville Police Maj. Darrell Rayborn. "He couldn't have seen the victim. She happened to be walking down the hallway back into the living room. There was blinds and curtains over that. So he didn't see her. We think he actually fired into that residence maybe to scare them."

Booher already has a warrant for felony theft.
