Parking meters to be enforced on Saturdays starting Sept. 6

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Starting September 6, drivers will have to feed the meter even on Saturday.

Paying for Saturday parking is already the law but it hasn't been enforced.

Since July, drivers have been given warnings about the change.

Starting September 6, the Parking Authority of River City (PARC) will be handing out tickets downtown, along Bardstown Road and at any meter in the city.

Two parking enforcement officers will be writing citations between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

"A parking citation is $15 if it's paid within the first seven days, then it goes up to $25 for the next seven days, and then it goes up to $50 after that," said Tiffany Smith, PARC Director.

In July, parking rates increased by a quarter per hour.

It now costs $1.50 for an hour of parking at a meter in Louisville.
