LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville attorney better known in his TV commercials as "The Hammer" is the latest notable to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Louisville attorney Darryl Isaacs accepted his challenge from WDRB President and GM Bill Lamb. ?Lamb accepted the challenge several days ago?, after being nominated by Norton Healthcare president and chief operating officer Russ Cox. But before 5-gallon buckets of ice water rained down on his head, he nominated Isaacs.
"First of all you want to challenge a friend," Lamb said. "And Darryl is a good sport, and Darryl not only accepted the challenge, he brought a check today for $500. He's always a very generous guy. And I want to say this: this is going to be a lot fun, Darryl. I'm going to do it very slowly, and it's going to be extra fun for you."
Lamb paused a moment before dousing Isaacs with the icy water.
"Since this is probably the last one of these ice bucket challenges we're going to do on the Morning Show for ALS, I just want to say that this has been a terrific thing," Lamb said.
"I don't know how it became so viral and raised so much awareness, but I had a very dear uncle who died from this insidious, cruel disease. So I've been very enthusiastically seeing the consciousness of Lou Gehrig's Disease being raised."
Lamb joined WDRB in the Morning crew members Candyce Clifft, Sterling Riggs, Jude Redfield and Mike Marshall in helping raise $750 for ALS research with challenges carried out live on the morning show.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raised millions of dollars for the ALS Foundation this summer.
