LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were hospitalized in a serious crash in west Louisville Friday afternoon.

It happened at the corner of 30th and Main shortly after 2 p.m., according to Louisville Metro Police.

LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley initially reported that the driver of the car was killed in the crash, but later told us he was taken to University Hospital and is in critical condition.

A female passenger was also taken to University Hospital, but police officials say her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police officials are still trying to determine exactly what happened, but say it appears the male driver may have lost consciousness while driving, lost control of the car, and struck several parked cars along a 2-block stretch of Main Street between 27th and 29th.

The car came to rest against a house at 30th and Main.
