LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he and a juvenile accomplice broke into an area school.

According to an arrest report, officers were called to Southern High School on Preston Highway, near Miles Lane, on Sunday, just before 5 p.m. after they received a report that someone had broken into the building. School officials allegedly told police that they had surveillance video of two people inside the school.

When officers arrived, they set up a perimeter around the school and sent in a K9 to search the building.

Police say they eventually found 18-year-old Ian McKnight and a female juvenile inside the school. McKnight was allegedly found hiding behind an air unit, and received a minor dog bite injury after the K9 bit him in the buttocks, according to the arrest report.

Police say McKnight and his juvenile accomplice had broken into the school via a door on the north side, near the bus drop-off. McKnight allegedly told them that he and the girl were just walking on the loading dock and were pulling on door handles when they saw one door was unlocked, so they went inside.

McKnight was arrested and charged with third degree burglary, custodial interference and engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor. Information about his juvenile accomplice is not available, because juvenile records are sealed.
