FDA greenlights experimental Ebola vaccine

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Ebola outbreak is worse than previously thought and spiraling out of control, according to top health officials.

More than 3,000 cases have been confirmed and about half of those infected by the virus have died.

The first human safety trial for an experimental Ebola vaccine is set to start this week.

The FDA gave the green light for researchers to give the drug to 20 healthy volunteers at the National Institute of Health in Maryland.
