Reports claim Wes Welker took drugs that led to suspension at Kentucky Derby

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Wes Welker seemed to have had a good day at the Kentucky Derby, while he was reportedly handing out hundred dollar bills and was overpaid by $15,000 at a Churchill Downs betting window.

However, reports are now surfacing on Twitter claiming Welker may have been on drugs that day.

ESPN's NFL reporter Adam Schefter posted a tweet Tuesday saying:

Filed to ESPN: Broncos WR Wes Welker has been suspended four games for use of amphetamines, per sources.

Multiple media outlets began reporting Welker had tested positive for substances against NFL's recreational drug policy and had been suspended for four games.

Welker has suffered three concussions over the past year and only recently returned to practice after his most recent concussion.

Later Tuesday, NBC's Pro Football Talk Twitter account posted a tweet saying:

Source: Welker took Molly at the Kentucky Derby. It had been cut with amphetamines. Same situation as Orlando Scandrick.

The Denver Broncos wide receiver, along with the Kentucky Derby, began trending on Twitter as sports pundits discussed his suspension and how much of a good time he had at the Derby.
