Fern Creek pastor heading for Washington DC to mark Sept. 11

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local pastor will honor the victims of 9/11 by riding his motorcycle to Washington DC.

Bishop Dan Johnson of the Heart of Fire Church in Fern Creek is expected to leave on Wednesday. He'll join 2 million bikers for a motorcycle ride to the nation's capitol to commemorate Sept. 11.

Johnson was in New York 13 years ago. He shot a picture from his hotel room where he saw the second plane hit the twin towers. He went to Ground Zero and helped with rescue and recovery and he returns each year for memorial ceremonies.

"Ultimately we will gather there on the White House lawn and at the mall at the monument," Johnson said. "I will be speaking there about the events that happened that day and sharing with all of America a day I know everyone remembers."

Johnson expects a couple of hundred local bikers to gather tomorrow morning to ride to Washington DC.
