LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A little culture was down at the Waterfront early Saturday.

It was part of the Dragon Boat Festival put on by Louisville Third Century.

Teams of 20 paddled the 40-foot Dragon Boats down the Ohio River.

The races are meant for people to have fun, be competitive and learn about Asian culture.

"I was interested in trying something different," said Lawrence Jones, president of Louisville Third Century. "I wanted to do the dragon boat ... so I wanted the whole dragon boat racing into the Louisville area. We'll bring all the concerts and things with it. We'll put the other part of the festival with it and a lot of Asian content."

This was the first year for the Dragon Boat Festival.

The "Louisville Third Century Strassen Dragons" team won the race.

Officials say they plan to continue every year and hope to make the event bigger.
