Louisville man arrested for stabbing victim behind O'Shea's Irish Pub

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Police have arrested a man who they say seriously injured a man by stabbing him in the stomach.

Javier Ponce-Franco was arrested in the 2300 block of Douglass Boulevard, near Bardstown Road on Friday afternoon. Police allege that he stabbed a man behind O'Shea's Irish Pub on August 17, located at 956 Baxter Ave., near Highland Avenue.

Police say Ponce-Franco stabbed the victim after the two men engaged in a verbal dispute.

The victim sought help from police after he had been wounded; he was taken to University Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

Ponce-Franco is charged with assault and he is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
