Indiana judge to allow reporters to post on social media during murder sentencing

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana judge will allow reporters to post on social media during the sentencing of a former Purdue University student who pleaded guilty to murder in the fatal shooting and stabbing of a fellow student in January.

The public will not be allowed to use social media or have electronic devices on during the sentencing Friday of 24-year-old Cody Cousins of Warsaw.

Cody pleaded guilty last month in the death of 21-year-old Andrew Boldt of West Bend, Wisconsin.

Lafayette attorney Kirk Freeman has said he intends to seek a verdict of guilty but mentally ill at the sentencing hearing. Cousins faces a sentence range between 45 and 65 years in prison.
