LOUISVILLE, Ky, (WDRB) -- The man accused of driving drunk and hitting a pregnant mother and her two young kids in downtown Louisville has been charged with DUI six times before, according to police records.

A fun night at Disney on Ice at the Yum! Center instantly changed when crossing Third and Main Streets Thursday night.

“All I can remember is seeing them flying, hitting the concrete, blood just everywhere," Alishia Kozak said.

Police say a drunk driver, 64-year-old Russell Mullins hit her pregnant sister Sara Neathamer and her two children, 3-year-old Jayden and 6-year-old Shyanne as they crossed the street.

Alishia, also six months pregnant, and her daughter, were okay.

“I just seen them laying there in a pile of blood, I thought they was gone. I didn't think they was gonna move," Kozak recalled.

Disney toys, shoes, and a purple princess skirt were scattered in the road.

Mullins was arrested for DUI.

“I asked the guy, what was you thinking? What was you doing? She's pregnant. My niece and nephew, they're young. He got out of the car and said well I didn't see them, lights a cigarette and just stands there,” Kozak said.

Russell Mullins has a lengthy criminal history, including convictions for cocaine possession.

He's been charged with DUI five times in Jefferson County, although we don't know the outcomes of those cases.

He was arrested for DUI in April in New Albany, Indiana where he lives. That case is pending.

According to Thursday night's arrest report, Mullins blew a 0.095 on a breathalyzer. That makes his seventh DUI charge.

Alishia Kozak says her nephew Jayden is pretty banged up, with scratches and Shyanne has broken bones. Sara has a fractured skull and road rash.

“She's in so much pain, and all she can worry about is her kids, she just wants her babies. She's worried about the new baby and how he's gonna make it,” Kozak explains.

The baby was born prematurely, named Nathan. He's on a respirator in stable condition, but it will be a long time before he can be brought home.

“Probably after New Year's before he can come home,” Kozak says.

This morning we saw LMPD's traffic unit pulling cars over citing and ticketing drivers for running red lights or not yielding to pedestrians near the Yum Center. The detail has been in place since June.

Mullins is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and three counts of assault, in addition to the DUI Thursday night.

“I don't have nothing I want to say to him. I just want him to go to jail and rot and not see the day of light again," Kozak said.

A court date for Mullins is set for September 29th. He's been appointed a public defender.
