LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Police have arrested a Louisville man who they say hit three vehicles and caused damage to a house, while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Allen Wheat, 37, was taken into custody on Monday afternoon in the 1200 block of Gilmore Lane, near Preston Highway, for the incident which occurred on February 19, according to police records.

Police allege that Wheat was driving northbound on 7th Street, when he lost control of his vehicle. Police records state that Wheat's vehicle crossed the road into the southbound lane, and hit a vehicle on the driver's side. The driver of that vehicle was injured as a result of the collision, police say.

Police say that Wheat's car continued on to the sidewalk, where it hit a truck and overturned. Police records indicate that Wheat's vehicle slid on its side where it struck a utility pole and caused damaged to a nearby house. Police also stated that Wheat's car hit another vehicle before finally coming to a stop.

Police say that Wheat was badly injured from the accident and he was unconscious and unresponsive. Police allege Wheat had a strong scent of alcohol and his blood alcohol content level was .262. Police also say his blood tested positive for cocaine.

The victim who was injured in the crash suffered non-life threatening injuries, but police say the man's car was totaled. The driver of the second car that was struck escaped without injury, and that man's car sustained minor damage from the collision.

Police say that the home involved in the accident received about $1,000 worth of damage.

Wheat is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs, assault, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief. He is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
