Gallapalooza set to return to Louisville in 2015 with new bourbon-themed statues

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – New colorful fiberglass horses are coming to Louisville next spring.

It will be the third running of Gallopalooza, with life-size works of art that first showed up all around the area in 2004 and again 2009.

Artists are already working on the first of what will be 150 new statues.

But this time, there's a new twist. This year will feature a bourbon element in the form of two new statues, a miniature horse atop a half bourbon barrel and a six-foot tall mint julep cup.

The money raised from the sale of the statues will go toward landscape improvements near Ninth and Main Streets and lighting the Big Four Bridge.
