LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he drove away after striking a teenage girl who was riding her bike.

According to an arrest report, the incident took place on Sept. 21, just before 6:30 p.m., at the corner of 18th Street and Nelligan Avenue. Police say 25-year-old Donald Edelen was driving his SUV, when his vehicle struck a 15-year-old girl riding her bicycle near the side of the road.

The teenager was thrown to the ground.

Police say the teenager told them that Edelen stopped his SUV, got out and approached her "in a threatening manner," allegedly throwing up his arms and yelling, "Really? Really?"

The teen was "intimidated and in fear of physical violence," according to police, so she told him she was fine.

Edelen then allegedly got back into his vehicle and sped off.

Police say he called them some time later, after he saw coverage of the incident on the evening news, and told them he wanted to talk about what happened.

He was arrested Wednesday night and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and/or failure to render aid, a misdemeanor.
