NuLu Festival offers local music, food and beer downtown

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The parking spots were full in Nulu as the neighborhood hosted a huge free block party.

Live music, pole vaulting and a beer garden were all part of today's 6th annual NuLu festival. It drew 15,000 visitors last year.

The event stretches over three blocks and includes more than 100 vendors featuring local food and drinks.

We caught up with one couple, visiting from Nashville.

"We got some things from the Pappy Van Winkle booth and some jewelry," Deena Daniels said. "We've gotten a lot of things for our kids: T-shirts and other souvenirs."

This year, the event is a kick-off party for Louisville's Idea Festival that features innovators and thinkers from around the world.

That kicks of Tuesday at the Kentucky Center.
