Woman arrested after nearly running over LMPD officers working fatal crash in PRP
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New Albany woman is facing several charges after police say she nearly struck two traffic officers near the scene of a fatal crash in PRP Sunday evening.
According to the arrest report, an LMPD officer was blocking traffic in the northbound lanes of the Greenbelt Highway after a fatal crash that killed three people around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 when 22-year-old Cassee Johnson drove around the officer's vehicle and onto the shoulder of the road. Police say Johnson continued driving on the right shoulder of the highway, going around 30 mph, as the officer followed with emergency lights and siren activated.
Police say Johnson nearly struck two traffic officers marking the scene, and that both officers "literally had to run for their lives out of the intersection."
Johnson drove another 300 yards, police say, before stopping. She now faces two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of failure to give right of way to an emergency stopped vehicle.
