LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD homicide detectives are investigating after a juvenile was found in Cherokee Park Tuesday evening.

Police have determined the boy's identity, but haven't released his name yet. Police say the boy was murdered.

Officers responded to an area about 100 yards behind the "Tepee" near Hogan's Fountain Tuesday evening around 4:30 p.m. after a passerby on the scenic loop spotted the boy in the woods.

The victim was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday to determine how the boy died.

Police say they will release more details at a news conference later today.
